The Albrighton Trust was set up in 1990 to begin the Moat Project which was finally opened in 1995, the fishing jetties were provided through the Challenge Anneka TV series. The Moat and gardens are maintained to provide facilities for the mentally or physically disabled as well as the elderly. In a very picturesque setting the main feature is the restored 13th Century Moat which is a scheduled ancient monument and has been designed to provide easy access for disabled anglers, staff and volunteers are always on hand to assist or teach visitors to fish the well stocked water, matches are also run for disabled anglers. There are also 35 themed gardens including a Sensory garden, a Pitch & Put facility and a well designed Day Centre building with many indoor activities and computer access available.
