RAF Carp Angling Team established

The Carp Team has been set up due to the popularity of fishing for large carp. We are not talking a 4 hour match with a decent pole elastic; we are talking matches over 48 and 72 hours fishing for carp in excess of 50lb.

The RAF Carp Angling Championships 2006 (dates and venue yet to be finalised) will be the pre-cursor to selecting a squad of carpers, which will be expected to go head to head with the Army, Navy and the high profile carp anglers who work within the commercial carp fishing industry. A provisional match has already been arranged with the Korda Developments Team, a team who can choose from the likes of former BCAC champions Danny Fairbrass and Damian Clarke along with Carpworld and Carp Addict contributor Ali Hamidi. So selecting a decent team is paramount.

All details pertaining to the Carp Team will be posted to the Carp Team section on RAF-CoarseAngling.info. If you are interested in carp fishing then join the forum and get interactive.

These are still early days for carping in the RAF but the popularity of the sport has been meteoric and hopefully the RAF team will rise to the occasion (no pun intended). The team is by no means exclusive to seasoned carp fisherman as newcomers to the sport will be welcomed. However, potential carpers should be aware that they will require tackle capable of landing carp in excess of 40 pounds and have the amenities to withstand 72 hours by the lakeside.

Any personnel seeking advice on carp fishing, are interested in joining the mailing list for the Carp Team or wish to be considered for a slot within the team, should contact the following RAF Carpers.
