RAFCAA VALE OF YORK CHAIRMANS REPORT 2007

The Vale of York (V of Y) league continues to provide the regions anglers with a team spirited, competitive recreation away from the pressures of primary duties.

The league has continued with an individual match format with a strong base formed by Leeming anglers. However, this season has seen representatives from Linton-On-Ouse and after a long absence Fylingdales and Staxton Wold taking part. In total 28 anglers have participated. Of these 20 were service and 8 were civilian. The average attendance for a league match was around the 10 mark. These numbers are ‘up’ on the previous season.

The league committee is comprised of:
Chairman Sgt A Randall
Match Secretary Sgt G Atkinson (Cpl Pete Eslick has now left the Service)
Treasurer Sgt G Millman
Fylingdales Rep PC M Dawson
Linton Rep FS G Blair
Staxton Rep Cpl C Jones

The V of Y Summer League was fished on a variety of venues including both natural and commercial venues. This trend has continued during the colder months with the Leeming stretch of the Swale producing good catches.

Unfortunately, entirely down to Service commitments, the League was unable to provide a team at this years Inter League event.

In summary the V of Y League continues as a well-run, effective P Ed variant. Our immediate future would appear to be stable with a possibility of returning to a more team related match format a distinct possibility.
